Pepperoni Pizza

Pizza dough

Pizza sauce

6 oz. can tomato paste (I use paste versus sauce to keep the dough from becoming soggy)

1 t black pepper

1 T oregano

1/8 C red wine

Mix all ingredients together well.  Makes enough sauce for 2 -4 pizza depending on your pan size.  Freeze remaining sauce for future use.

You can use any toppings you like.  This is the family favorite.

1 bunch fresh basil chopped

1 1/2 – 2 C mozzarella cheese shredded

1/2 bell pepper sliced

4-6 lg mushrooms sliced

1 can sliced or chopped black olives

1/2 small onion sliced

Heat oven to 400.  Make pizza dough.  Sprinkle cornmeal onto pizza pan or baking sheet.  Roll dough out on lightly floured surface shaping to fit your pan.

Spread sauce thinly on dough.

Thin layer of sauce

Sprinkle fresh chopped basil on top of sauce.  Add cheese and veggies (I hate mushrooms and as I’m the only person who eats the leftovers, I only put them on 1/4 of my pizza).

1/4 mushroom, 1/2 veggie, 1/2 cheese

Top with pepperoni (I use a ton but you don’t have to).  Notice the frost on my pepperoni?

Bake in 400 oven for 10 – 15 minutes depending on your oven.  Let cool 5 minutes to let cheese set.  Slice and serve!
