Faux Painting

When we bought our house, it was in an unfinished condition.  It was very dark inside so after we had the sheetrock guys make a rough texture with the mud rather than a smooth or sprayed on texture we chose to paint the living room, dining room, and kitchen bright white.  Wow!  Now it looked like a hospital!  It was looking bit to sterile for our tastes.  So, what to do?  I couldn’t find a color that I liked that went with the Mexican pavers we had chosen for the flooring and the white ceiling.   So I decided to take the extra paint from my son’s room and thin it down with water which made the tan color a light yellowish tan.  Then I took cheesecloth and “sponged” it on out walls.  I wanted a weathered plaster look and it turned out fantastic!
